Commercial Finance Business Partner

The company

Valcon is a European powerhouse in AI & data-driven business transformation. They have experienced a strong growth journey which started in 2018/2019. Following an investment in Dutch firm First Consulting, a merger with Viqtor Davis added strong data expertise. Growth continued through strategic acquisitions in the Nordics, the UK, and Eastern Europe. In 2021, all operations were unified under one international brand: Valcon. In December 2024, the entry of Rivean Capital as the new majority shareholder marked the start of a new growth phase, focused on further international expansion and entry into new markets. Most recently, Valcon strengthened its position in the Nordics with the acquisition of Swedish data and AI specialist Bricobomba.

Valcon has grown into an international consultancy with 1,600 professionals across six countries: the Netherlands, Denmark, the UK, Sweden, Croatia, and Serbia. The company follows a balanced growth strategy that combines organic growth with a selective buy-and-build approach. Organic growth is driven by increasing client demand for integrated transformation services — with a strong focus on data, technology, and (Gen)AI. Valcon continues to invest in deepening these capabilities, while also strengthening its commercial and delivery organization to boost effectiveness, scalability, and client impact. At the same time, Valcon will continue to expand its European footprint through the acquisition of high-performing firms, integrating them into one scalable platform with a unified brand, culture, and operations.

The job profile

Valcon is entering a new phase of growth and maturity, they are looking for a strong Commercial Finance Business Partner. You will be the key finance business partner to support the commercial performance in the Netherlands. Your mission is to help take Valcon from “A to B” by building a more mature, structured, and insight-driven approach to commercial decision-making — not to constrain the business, but to empower it with better tools, clearer guardrails, and smarter steering.

You will lead the design and implementation of:

  • A uniform commercial governance framework: including deal structures, discount policies, approval matrices, deal review committees and contracting standards. Your role is to help define “what good looks like” — and ensure commercial teams can move fast within clear, agreed boundaries.
  • A commercial control rhythm: that provides meaningful, recurring insight into pipeline conversion, account performance, client mix, upselling potential, margin development (per project and client), and early signals when delivery exceeds what can be billed. This requires setting up a cadence of performance reviews — combining insights with a business-partner mindset.
  • Pricing and margin optimisation: You will continuously contribute to pricing and margin improvement, developing a toolkit and benchmarks for value-based pricing which the business can use. Beyond frameworks, you'll act as a hands-on advisor in structuring new client contracts and advising on deal assumptions.

The ideal candidate

  • Completed academic degree in Finance, Economics or related field; complemented by further professional development (e.g. RC, CMA, MBA) is a plus
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in commercial finance, FP&A or business control roles within dynamic, performance-driven environments
  • Strong in commercial and operational performance steering - balancing long-term strategic objectives with operational deep dives. Proven impact on margin development, pricing strategy, and deal support
  • Proactive, critical thinker with a hands-on mentality; sharp on detail yet capable of focusing on what truly matters
  • A connector with natural presence — able to create buy-in, easily builds relationships across commercial, delivery, and leadership teams and foster strong internal collaboration
  • Entrepreneurial and pragmatic, with high personal integrity; a trusted advisor who partners with the business while acting as its financial conscience when needed
  • People-oriented mindset, with a coaching style and curiosity for what drives others
