Our client is a mid-sized, hands-on investment firm operating across multiple European countries The firm focuses on acquiring and developing mid-market companies, typically taking majority stakes and playing an active role in improving operational and financial performance. Its international portfolio consists of several companies across diverse sectors, with a strong emphasis on long-term value creation, transformation, and growth.

The job profile

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to support its continued growth and professionalization. The CFO will have end-to-end responsibility for Finance, Legal, and Tax, overseeing both the investment funds and the management entity. The role combines strategic oversight with operational involvement and requires close collaboration with investment teams and external stakeholders.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Managing financial operations, reporting, and controls across funds and the management company
  • Leading investor reporting, fund administration, and valuation processes
  • Overseeing fundraising support activities, including due diligence and documentation
  • Managing relationships with investors, auditors, advisors, and regulators
  • Driving process improvements, automation, and internal controls
  • Supervising a small internal team and external service providers
  • Supporting compliance, regulatory matters, and governance structures
  • Contributing to ESG integration and reporting initiatives
     

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional with a strong background in:

  • Private equity, asset management, and/ or fund structures
  • Financial control, fund administration, and investor reporting
  • Understanding of fund structures, valuations, and cashflow dynamics    

Additional requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Professional certifications (e.g., audit or controlling) are a plus.
  • Approx. 10–15 years of relevant experience in a senior and/ or executive Finance position
  • Proven, and demonstrable experience with legal, tax, and regulatory frameworks 
  • Strong analytical and technical finance skills and reporting capabilities
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment

Please note: Eligibility requires residency in the Netherlands and professional level fluency in Dutch (both verbally and in writing).
